White listing does not work!

Thread needs solution

I use FreeFileSync to files, including backups, to another drive. I have white listed FreeFileSync.exe but Acronis still blocks access when FreeFileSync tries to copy a backup file. How can I prevent this? Thanks.

Try white listing the entire folder that contains FreeFileSync.

Not sure that listing the whole folder will work. From my limited testing it only prevents Active Protection from protecting the content of the folder, rather than allowing the programs in that folder to make act on the files in some other folder. So, if excluding the folder does not solve the problem, try adding all *.exe files in the folder to the white list as FreeFileSync.exe may call on another exe as part of the process. Just speculation on my part.

I suppose I could read the manual: got the following form the 2018 (beta) manual p 172:

 Manage the permission list
This list allows you to trust or block applications.
 Manage exclusions
Use the exclusion list to specify files and folders that you do not want to protect from ransomware.

Exclusion of the entire folder should prevent Active Protection from scanning the folder or its contents.  Should work.
