Steven, I have just used the MVP tool to create a WinPE rescue media CD and all worked fine first time round.

You can check the .ISO image which the Windows Disk Image Burner is saying isn't valid by opening the C:\MVP_ATIPEBuilder_v121\ISO folder on your computer where you should see the Acronis_amd64.iso file created by the tool.

Double-click on the ISO file in Explorer and it should open up to show the contents (as it would for a zip file).

You can also try launching the Windows Disk Image Burner directly by right-clicking on the ISO file and then choosing the Open with option, it probably won't show the Windows Disk Image Burner by default, but if you then choose Look for another app on this PC, you can find this burner at C:\Windows\System32\isoburn.exe

You could also test this with any other ISO files you may have available.

I would also recommend checking the Log file for the tool run which is found in the C:\MVP_ATIPEBuilder_v121\Logs folder with todays date.  See below for the last portion of the log from my own use today.

Thanks for the information but it's still not working. There is no iso file in the ISO folder. Just a Wim folder with the Acronis _amd64 wim file in it. The log file ends with "Cleaning up now." Even when selecting the iso burner from system32 i get the same box saying "The selected disk image file isn't valid". It "DID work" with a USB stick, but doesn't like my DVD burner. Not sure why.

Steven,

The error has nothing to do with your DVD burner. If there is no ISO file. it can't be burned. I can't figure out why you're not getting an ISO file in the ISO folder. What version of the ADK did you install? I assume you installed only the two check boxes from the ADK that Ekaterina pointed out. Doing this has always worked for me.

Hi:

I installed ADK (1703). That's the version of Windows 10 i have.

The log file shows

\ - was unexpected at this time.

Steven,

Thank you for the screenshot. It explains the problem. The program is using Microsoft's MakeWinPEMedia tool to create the ISO. It can't handle the folder name you created. Please move the MVP folder from C:\Program Files (x86) to C:\ so the path looks like:

C:\MVP_ATIPEBuilder_v121

I think the space in your path threw the MakeWinPEMedia tool a curve ball.

Great! That worked. I was able to burn the CD. Thanks. I will try to test it tomorrow.

Well spotted Paul, glad it is working now Steven and that the test goes well.
