Acronis 19 Rescue Kit booting from the back up external hard drive itself
I am using a USB 3.1 external hard drive power by the USB cable, If in case my system fails and I need to use the inbuilt rescue kit on this external hard drive, can I boot from it directly into my computer via usb port even if the external hard drive does not have an independent power source plug and gets the power via the pc usb connection?
I ask this question because I read that to clone a PC the external hard drive needs an independent power source, and I was wondering if this is the case with a simple restore of my pc using my ATI back up with the rescue kit.

Roberto, in addition to Ian's reply, the only issue with USB 3.x devices is if they are connected to older USB 2.0 or 1.0 ports which may not supply the power needed by the USB 3 device, so would need a powered hub to help with this.

Additionally I would recommend that you use a USB port that is connected directly to the motherboard and is not case mounted. The case mounted ports are notorious for not supplying sufficient power to run an external HDD.
