Acronis 2019 basic usage for backup and restore

Thread solved

I have acronis true image 2019 and intend to use it to backup my PC packaged system(pre-installed OS). So, in case of system one day slows down due to virus attack, ransomware, software cluttering, etc etc, it can be restored back easily from the backup.

I have c:\ drive which is the main windows10 drive and D:\drive is the same harddisk, only different partition.

So, the question is

Do i just select  [check]

a) just the c:\ only and ignore and uncheck the “EFI System Partition” and “Recovery Partition”

or

b) or just the c:\ only and also the “EFI System Partition” or the “recovery Partition”

or

c) must select all c:\ partition, plus the “EFI System Partition” and the “recovery Partition”

and when i restore, i follow the SAME option, right?

Ie, if select c:\drive, restore back to ONLY c:\drive

Ie if check 2 from above, must restore to 2 also

Ie if select 3 from above, then must restore to all 3 too

Any comments or inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

M I, welcome to these public User Forums.

If your intention is to be able to recover from malware, ransomware or even a disk drive failure, then you should be selecting the whole source disk drive for your backup task, i.e. selecting at the Disk 2 top level box.

Neither malware, ransomware etc has any respect for separate partitions and if this gets a foot hold on your PC then all data is at risk.

Your backup must include the EFI System partition as the PC will never boot into Windows without this being present and valid.  The Recovery partition is required if you want to be able to use any of the Windows recovery tools such as 'Start up repair' etc.

When doing a recovery, there will always be an option to not recover any of the items shown but if you do not back them up, then they cannot be offered!

I would recommend reading through the first few sections of the Acronis True Image 2019 User Guide which will give you a good introduction to how to use the application.
