'Acronis Drive' Letter Error

Thread needs solution

Problems in Windows 10 Explorer - and with Disk Management assigning a new drive letter.

I have two concurrent issues, which appear to be related...
My PC has hard drive partitions allocated as C, D, E, F, G - and L, M for two optical drives.

  1. When I plug a formatted USB pen drive into the PC, I cannot see it in Windows Explorer.  However, if I launch Disk Management, I can see the USB drive - with the drive letter H: assigned to it.
If I reassign a different drive letter in Disk Management, I can now see the USB drive in Windows Explorer.

  2. When I click on the 'Acronis Drive' favourite in Windows Explorer, I get an error message (pic attached) saying that "H:\ is unavailable...."

The two issues appear to be related...

Does 'Acronis Drive' grab a drive letter for itself - but then not 'tell' Disk Management?  If so, why do I get the error message about drive H:\ when I click on the shortcut?

Any help/advice gratefully received...

Welcome to these public User Forums.

Acronis Drive will use the Windows subst tool to allocate the drive letter M: when the Acronis Backup for mobile phones (Android or IOS) is being used.

I haven't encountered any reports of it using drive letter H: and haven't ever seen this myself.

If you are not using the Acronis mobile backup feature, then ensure that the associated services for this are either set to Manual or Disabled in the Windows services.msc control panel.
