Acronis True Image 2019 File and Folder Backup Question

Thread needs solution

Currently I am using VEEAM Agent for Windows Free and if you create a file and folder backup job incrementally and change a folder name or move a folder from its original location that VEEAM knows it at, the job fails completely.

With acronis True Image 2019, will i run into a similar situation?

Michael, welcome to these public User Forums.

I have never used VEEAM so have no knowledge of how it works.

With ATI 2019 Files & Folders backups, the effect of changing or moving folders / folder names will really depend on how your backup task is configured.

For example: if you are backing up 'My Documents' and all it's sub-folders, then change or move a folder in the set of sub-folders, ATI will continue with no issue and will capture the changed / moved folders.

If you change a root / parent folder of this type of backup task, then I would expect the task to fail because you have removed the defined source for the task.

Michael - I also use the free version of Veeam (as a comparison tool, but not my favorite option after playing with it for some time now).  Steve's notes ring true!

Plus, Acronis has a lot more options and customization over the free version of Veeam.  Not only can you have more than one backup job (you can have as many as you want), but you can have a different schedule and/or backup type ... i.e incremental or differential... in each job too.

With Acronis, you aren't limited to just a recovery with the rescue media like you are in Veeam, but you can also take an offline backup with it too.  The consolidation in Acronis is a bit different than what you'll be used to, but you can set the # of backups in a chain, the number of chains to keep and automated cleanup rules so it will essentially function similarly in that regard.  It's just a matter of getting used to the new interface and differences in how they behave.
