Acronis True Image causing apps and system to freeze - help!

Thread needs solution

I am a relatively new Acronis 2019 True Image user.

Since installing True Image, the backups work great but my system has started randomly freezing. This happened on my previous windows 10 installation and is also happening on a fresh installation. The only common factor is Acronis True Image.

I have read a few threads on these forums about users having this problem with various versions of True Image but is there an actual solution apart from looking for an alternative software? I have already tried the KB script available on these forums but without success.

Thank you,
Toby

That script was for ATI 2009 and 2010 (plus other Acronis products of the same vintage). I'm not surprised it did not help and am a bit surprised it didn't do damage.  ATI has gone through a lot of changes since then.

Hopefully some of the Acronis MVPs will offer suggestions.  In the mean time I suggest you open a ticket with Acronis support.  Driver incompatibilities can be difficult to diagnose.  The support team my have tools to help.

Was there anything in the Windows Event Log indicating any failures?

I doubt that it is Active Protection causing the problem, but you could try turning it off. During 2019 beta testing I had freezing, but that occurred when using the Acronis App, not while Acronis was backing up in background.

Another thing you could try is do a repair of the installation - download the full installation file (not the web version) if you have not already done so, then do "run as administrator" and when prompted select "repair". Best I can do at the moment. (It is the end of winter in Australia and, would you not know it I've come down with a bad cold and the brain just refuses to work.)

Thanks for your help. I will try a complete reinstall followed by disabling active protection.
