Acronis True Image for Windows: Is the backup mode in the Mac version available?

Thread needs solution

This is a question for Acronis True Image 2019 for Windows: In the Mac version of Acronis True Image, there is only backup mode available: It does a full image backup initially, then all backups from there update the full image while creating differentials between the new backup and the old backup. It never does another full backup, and it only stores the last (n) differential backups (where n = a count chosen by the user).

Is this backup mode available in the Windows version as well? This makes backups very fast, avoids ever having to wait on a new full backup, and makes it very fast for Acronis to trim old versions.

If this mode is available, what's the name of this mode? Also, does this mode still have the option to verify backups? Backup verification is missing on the Mac version.

Brian, welcome to these public User Forums.

Please see KB 61596: Acronis True Image 2019: comparison of feature set in Windows and macOS - where the differences are shown.

There is no Differential backup option in the Mac version of ATI as shown by the above.

There is no ability to do what you describe in the Windows version of ATI.

You could use an Incremental scheme that created an initial Full backup then made incremental backups forever but this is not recommended as very long incremental chains are at risk should any individual file within the chain become corrupted or damaged etc.

The nearest backup scheme to that you described is the one to the Acronis Cloud which does only ever make an initial Full backup then makes a hybrid differential/incremental delta images of further changes detected after that, which does allow for the user to specify the number of versions to keep.  This type of backup is not available for local backup destinations.

Hello Brian McGroarty,

Currently we have this limitation of a sort that is due to different technologies of backing up on two platforms.

So Steve is correct, currently the "one-file" backup is not available in Windows.
