Acronis TrueImage and Mac Mini 2018 (T2-chip)

Thread solved

Hello forum

I intend to buy a MacMini 2018. But know I came to know that the T2-chip in the new Mac Mini (2018)
does prevent it to boot a MacMini from DVD into Linux...

Does that mean, new Mac Minis cannot be booted from the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media as well?

Thank's a lot!

Ralph

This is essentially what "secure boot" is on other motherboard firmware (Gigabyte, Dell, Asus, Acer, etc.).  It can be turned off in the Apple firmware as well.

I don't have one to test for myself, but also, the Acronis rescue media for Macintosh is not Linux, but created from the systems own Apple recovery environment and should be MacOS journaled.  I don't know if that makes a difference for bootability (with the default T2 firmware settings), but the work-a-round is posted in the link above.
