ATI 2019 capabilities

Thread needs solution

I haven't bought ATI 2019 yet.

Question 1:

I have 2 laptops (one W-10, one W-7) and a desktop (W7Pro) on the same network using the same network storage SSD as the main information storage for active daily use for all the machines. So far I have a rather inelegant backup scheme involving periodically yanking out the network drive to do manual backups via USB3.1 on the desktop to an external USB3.1 drive also on the desktop. I'd like to streamline that and also make auto incremental updates possible through the network. I want to back up that network drive still connected to the router to an internal [backup storage only] SSD in the desktop. Any problem to configure that from the desktop?

Question 2:

I have archived info on each machine that is unique to each machine that I simply want to keep there for insurance since I do not trust myself that I have transferred EVERYTHING possibly needed for all time to the network storage drive from all 3 machines despite mammoth efforts to that end. So, I want to make one full backup of each machine - hopefully to the same internal backup SSD in the desktop in a different folder(s) from the network b/u. If that is simply not possible then my fallback would be backing up those machines to an external drive (the same one for all 3 machines in different folders hopefully). Advice?

David, welcome to these User forums.

ATI 2019 is capable of doing what you are asking in your questions, i.e. you can backup from your local laptop and desktop drives to another location, locally, externally or on the NAS; plus you can also backup your NAS drive(s) across the local network to another location.

In essence, if Acronis can access the drives in question, then it can work with them.

The key point here is that to keep any backup strategy as simple as possible, you should have an ATI 2019 license for each Windows computer so that you can run backups from each system independently of any other computer.

You can schedule your backups according to your needs here so that the backups either run at the same time if writing to different locations, or staggered if all writing to the same location.  The latter is only really needed to reduce the load on the backup location.  It is recommended to use different folders for holding your backups from different computers / NAS - this makes it a whole lot simpler when wanting to recover any data too.

A second key point is to ensure that you have more than one backup location and that the backup drive(s) are of sufficient size to accommodate the size of your source data from your computers, including keeping more than one copy of such data, i.e. using a Grandfather, Father, Son type relationship for backups to enable recovery over a wider period of time if needed.

Finally, please be aware of the different license types for ATI 2019 - you can buy a Perpetual license which will continue to work for as long as Windows allows; or you can buy Subscription licenses where the product works only during the subscription period but will include other benefits such as Acronis Cloud storage, free upgrades to new versions etc.
