ATI multiple network environment under Windows
I've ran into this weird situation twice now with different versions of ATI...
I have multiple networks and a few that aren't routed by my gateway, instead, my main gateway issues an ICMP redirect so the host can route directly through the secondary gateway (because it's on the same network). This is 100% standard and functional networking that works under Linux and Windows. But ATI under Windows? Not so much. I have to plugin a route in Windows for it to work (eg., route add 10.1.1.0/24 10.0.0.1). Without the route ATI will stop at 25 MB progress and will only write about 8 MB of data and that's it. The ATI/Linux boot media works as expected. Also, if I use the ip address of the gateway interface, which is also the server, \\10.0.0.1\someshare instead of the secondary ip of the server \\10.1.1.1\someshare), then it also works. Maybe this is a windows "thing" ?
Turns out this is a Windows issue. I experienced the same problem with a file copy.
Do you experience this problem with a computer running Windows 7?
Yes, it was a Windows 7 computer. But I'm also wondering if it might be my router. Maybe it's trying to route the packets some of the time? I know if I use the ATI Linux boot media and Clonezilla that it routes properly because I'm using a 10 gbe card and it operates at full speed (my router is 1 gbe).

Thanks for the link! I had been searching for a while but this is the best thread on the subject. I didn't know you could run RIP on Windows. It's V1 though. I use OSPF simultaneously with RIP V2 because my Dell switches only support RIP. With Quagga on Linux you can have the RIP daemon redistribute the OSPF routes via 'redistribute ospf'. I'll have to give this a try. In the end it does look like a Windows 7 redirect is broken. I don't recall having the issue when I was testing Windows 10.
The issue with redirects apparently was fixed in Windows versions after 7. Hope you get things worked out!
I'm now seeing that even if I specify my own routes there are still issues. If you turn off the firewall the problem mostly goes away, but occasionally file transfers (copies, etc) will stall. I was testing Macrium Reflect 7 and it bombed out a few times with write errors. Acronis is actually a little more forgiving and will retry for a longer period of time. The only real solution so far, it seems, is to put the Windows 7 machines on their own network and route through the switches.
That's a hard reality of that's the case. Not sure of your requirements but maybe virtualize the Win 7 on a Win 10 platform and backup the VM? You would need to step up to Acronis Backup 12.5 for backup of VM but may be something to consider.
