Back up cloud-linked directories

Thread needs solution

I had a recent disaster of my own making; I deleted a file on OneDrive and didn't notice until it was too late to get it out of the recycle bin.

I've set OneDrive so that it always keeps a copy on my local machine (as well as my phone), and I know that works because I can open the file when my Internet connection is disconnected. Nonetheless, the backup reported numerous errors.

I don't know if that's because ATI was trying to get at the OneDrive cloud, or for some other reason.

Has anyone successfully done this?

Jerry, there are some very long forum topics on the subject of OneDrive backups with any of the recent ATI versions.  This is due to changes that were introduced by Microsoft for how OneDrive uses reparse points for linking to files stored in their cloud servers (FilesOnDemand feature).

Acronis has hit problems with handling reparse points for OneDrive FilesOnDemand data and has taken the drastic step of not allowing any OneDrive backups in ATI 2018, but allowing local file backups for OneDrive with ATI 2019!

They are working on a fix for this issue which will hopefully be retro fitted to ATI 2018 as well as being integrated in a new build for ATI 2019, but we have no time estimate for when this will be?

Thanks.
