The backup failed. Ensure that destination is accessible
Fresh installed Windows 10 and Acronis True Image 2019.
1. ESET Antivirus disabled.
2. Acronis Active Protection disabled.
3. Destination folder properties confirmed full access rights.
4. Launched Acronis True Image as Administrator.
Manual back up fails (other source and designation backup attempts fail too).
Notification received:
The backup failed. Ensure that destination 'G:\Daily Backup User Data\' is accessible.

Also, an Acronis backup file is noted to appear in the designated folder, but the back up process fails with folder access notification.

Dean, sorry but more information will be needed to understand what is happening here?
Please download the MVP Log Viewer Tools (link below) and use this to review the messages written to the log for the problem backup task.

Francois, welcome to these public User Forums.
The normal cause of 'Destination is not available' error messages is because the backup destination drive has either changed or the partition GUID (identifier) for the drive has changed.
Please try reselecting the Destination drive for the backup task giving this error.

I am having the same error . It created the recovery backup successfully . Then it went to backup the drive data to the folder I specified for the backup and then after a short delay stopped with an error that the destination was inaccessible .Why? No information or help or diagnostic help given !!! I have been trying to back up now for about 3 days . Each time there is a problem . Today i did a complete shutdown . Then after the laptop booted I ran Acronis and deled the other failed backups from the left hand bar in Acronis . Then I started the backup . It give me theoption o create a recovery backup . I selected this option . This worked . I thought GREAT ! At last it is working . Then when the recovery backup was complete it went back to the Backup data screen . It displayed the test Backup Started . Calculating time for Backup ( not sure about the text here) . Then after a short delay it stopped with the error Destination drive is inaccessible . . Bit it just wrote to it ! So what is going on ! Is this a bug? There is very poor help provided to diagnose the problem . I tried to upload a screen shot of the screen but I got an error "The file could not be uploaded " So this does not appear work. Please Help me diagnose this issue . It is driving me nuts!

See the post above with the following advice ..."Please try reselecting the Destination drive for the backup task giving this error". I do not understand this . Please explain how this is achieved . I have an SSD . It is device D: . It is selected as the Backup Drive with a path to the backup folder . How do I reselect the Destination Drive ? Does the ant-virus software need to be disabled ? There needs to be detailed step by step help provided to 1 . Diagnose the cause of the problem and 2. To correct what is causing the problem . This is very important but seems to be missing .

The reason for your issue here is because you have used the default source selection of 'Entire PC' (aka - User PC in your image) which includes the D: drive that you are trying to backup to!
What you need to do is to click on the Source selection panel when it shows either 'Entire PC' or 'User PC' which will then show a list of further options, one of which is 'Disks & Partitions' - select that option and you will see all the internal drives in your PC. Now select just the main OS disk drive, i.e. C: with all its partitions as the Source for your backup task.
Once the Source is set correctly, you can now select the internal D: drive as the Destination without any conflict with Acronis locking that drive because it is included in the Source!

Hi Steve
I understand . Of course, now it is obvious ! Very grateful for this advice . This has been driving me nuts all week !
To prevent this happening again , I suggest that validation is added to ensure the Source Drive and the Destination Drive are different Drives . This error popped up about 2 hours after the backup had started . A check at the beginning would be very helpful and if there is a conflict , then the error is flagged to the user with clear guidance how to resolve the issue .
Thanks again for your help! I am most grateful !

Hi Steve
I tried a new Backup .
I have three drives
Drive C: partition on my laptop Hard Drive
Drive F: partition on my Laptop Hard Drive
Drive D: USB SSD Backup Drive
This time is selected the Partitions C: and F: on my hard disk as the SOURCE and Drive D: my USB SSD as the DESTINATION
The backup runs for about 1 hour . Then it reports an error ....." The backup failed. Ensure that the destination 'D:\BackupE5470_1\' is accessible "...... I can see an Acronis file with the name of the Source and size of 104KB has been written to the destination folder . To check the destination is accessible I have opened a text file and successfully written to it on the destination drive . I tried to upload a screen shot but I got the error " This file could not be uploaded " So I still have the same problem it seems . Grateful for any help or advice to resolve this issue .

Hello!
Please try the following solutions:
-
Check the destination drive: Double-check if the destination drive (Drive D: in your case) has sufficient free space to accommodate the backup. Make sure it is not full or experiencing any hardware issues. Check the status of the disk.
-
Verify folder permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to write to the destination folder on Drive D:. Right-click on the folder, go to "Properties," and navigate to the "Security" tab. Check if your user account has full control or write permissions on the folder.
-
Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall: Some antivirus or firewall software might interfere with the backup process. Try temporarily disabling any security software you have installed and attempt the backup again. Make sure that your A.Virus won't block the program: https://kb.acronis.com/content/36429
-
Fix the installation file. Download the Agent again and fix the current installation of Acronis True image.
-
Use a different backup destination: If the issue persists, try using a different backup destination, such as an external hard drive or a different USB SSD. This will help determine if the problem lies with the specific drive or the backup software.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jose Pedro
Thank you for your advice
First I have some comments on your suggestions -
Drive Space : This is ok . I have about 4TB free Drive D: , the Backup drive . This is much larger than the Hard Disk I am backing up Drives C: and F: ( about 400GB maximum )
Drive D: Folder Permissions : I checked the folder permission . The folder permissions are set to ALL . I have as noted opened and written successfully to the test text file in the Backup folder I am using
Anti Virus Disable : Not done so far . Will try this later today .
Download the Agent again : Not done so far , will try after I have disabled Anti Virus first .
Use a Different Destination Drive : ok, noted I will try his as a last resort
Question : Why does wait for about 1 hour into the backup to flag this error . It would be much more user friendly if it made a check at the beginning , the flagged to the user any conflict or error detected .
I will file an update shortly , hopefully it will be a success story .
Thanks again . Much appreciated .

Eamonn,
Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?
The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant Version 2.6.3 is available.
If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.
If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.
Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant, i.e. Media Builder.
The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.
The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

Hi Steve
Thank you for replying to my post
I have downloaded MVP Assistant Version 2.6.3
I tired to perform a backup yesterday evening with the Virus Checker disabled just to see if that would make any difference .
It failed with the same error message as before ...." The backup failed. Ensure that the destination 'D:\BackupE5470_1\' is accessible "......
I have opened the logs for this backup using MVP Assistant
There are two log files for this backup -
backup_worker_2023-07-10-21-07-32.0.log......log 2
backup_worker_2023-07-10-21-00-37.0.log.....Log 1
See the following errors reported at 10:06:57 and 10:09:53 in log 2 . These errors are highlighted in Yellow in the original log file
Here is copy of the errors without the Yellow highlighting

Is there a problem with the SSD Drive ? I ran CHKDSK on it already and it did not flag any errors .

Eamonn, I believe that the main error shown in the logs is in reference to the Destination storage drive for your backup task, not the Source drive being backed up.

Your focus should be on your D: storage drive in the main, but also look for any indication of any heavy volume usage as per the log entry referring to Volume Snapshot (VSS) issues above.
If you have another storage drive you could try backing up to, that would help isolate the issue further?

Hi Steve.
Thank you for reply .
Yes I had reach the same conclusion . It looks like there is a problem with the Drive D, the backup drive . CHKDSK is not reporting any errors for Drive D: for some reason . Anyway, I will try another Drive as you suggested .
Thanks for your help !

Hello!
Please run this tool: https://kb.acronis.com/content/1638 . The final report displays possible errors in the disks.
Feel free to upload the report in a 3rd party tool and post here the link.
Thanks!

Hi Jose Pedro
I downloaded the AcronisReport utility
I ran it on Drive D:
I got this error -
E000101F4 : Not Enough Privileges
You do not have enough privileges to start Acronis System Report
I have a Windows Administrator Account .
What is the problem here ?

Hey Eamonn. Did you run the .exe file as admin? If not please try that.
If that doesn't work, please collect the full sysreport : https://kb.acronis.com/content/58820
Thanks.

Hi Jose Pedro
Thank you .
I ran the AcronisReport utility successfully as admin
I tired to post a link o the report but I got the error message as follows
..............."You are not allowed to place hyperlinks inside the text, please, clear them."................
So how can I send you a copy of the report ?
I see the following summary at the bottom of the report
ReportDisks Ok
ReportOss Ok
Does this indicate Drive D: is good ?

Hello Eammon. Unfortunately the upload tool doesn't work at the moment. Could you please upload it in a 3rd party tool and post here the link? Thanks.

Hi Jose Pedro
I tried to add a link to the report but again I got an error as follows

How can I send the report to you ?

Eamonn, if you have put the report on a cloud share location, then you just need to change the hyperlink so that it is not clickable.
Other users have sent me links to Google Drive using that method recently.
Example:
https:// drive.google.com/file /d/1Feu5DSTZPs_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxXP/view?usp=sharing

Hi Jose Pedro
It is not possible to do what you requested
I am not able to upload the report and I am not allowed to included a link here to the report as well .
So there is not way to upload the report file other than copying and pasting the contents of the report file here . It is a large file so this would not be good .
Is there somewhere else I can upload the file to ? I expect that uploading files and links is something that other people need to do was well, when requesting support - so this is something that needs to be addressed .

Eamonn, if the key purpose of creating an Acronis system report was to identify any disk drive errors, then you can open the report zip file and extract just the disks.txt report file which is only a few kb in size.
Example: this disk report shows a file system error for H: 2ndVolume 1.8TB drive / partition as indicated by 'e' shown in column C at the right side.
DA-API report version 3 PS Speed IFace Hs-Bs-Tg Model Num NT L9NO Size FSsize Free FS Type Label ABCHSV Error ---- ----- ---- ----- ----- ----- ------ --------------- ----------- ------ ---------- 1- d(4) GPT 1.8T RAID 0-0-0 ST2000DM006-2DM164 CC26 MBR ------ GPTpri -----v MSresr -----v -2 --GH 1.8T 1.8T 561G NTFS 07 NTFS, HPFS 2ndVolume.. --e--V Partition 1-2: file system FS: NTFS File System Error 0x70018: MFT bitmap is corrupted.
Running CHKSK H: /F is recommended to try to fix the bitmap corruption issue.
Note: the detail information on the error is found towards the end of the disk report and identified by the Partition identifier i.e. 1-2 above.

Eamonn, just looking at the initial disks report, I have to admit that I have never seen one of these with so many 'E' error indicators for multiple partitions on both drives!
Column C has 5 such 'E' error indicators including for the Windows Recovery and OS partitions as well as partitions F: New Volume, and both partitions on the USB drive
I can only suggest using the diagnostic tools provided by the drive manufacturers on your drives if CHKDSK is not finding and resolving the issues here.
Dedicated diagnostic utilities from the disk manufacturers take the longest time to complete the checks, but provide the most accurate methods of checking whether the disk is good or needs replacement:
- Western Digital drives: Western Digital Dashboard
- Seagate disks: SeaTools for Windows
- HGST disks: HGST Windows Drive Fitness Test (WinDFT)
- Intel SSDs: Intel Memory and Storage Tool (GUI)
- Samsung drives: Samsung Magician
- ADATA drives: ADATA SSD ToolBox
- Kingston SSDs: Kingston SSD Toolbox, Kingston SSD Manager
- Transcend SSDs: Transcend SSD Scope
- Silicon Power disks: SP ToolBox
- Toshiba disks: Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool Utility
- Crucial disks: Crucial Storage Executive
- SanDisk disks: SanDisk SSD Dashboard tool / SanDisk SSD Dashboard user guide

Hello. As Steve mentioned the report shows several errors in the disks. It's expected the backups to fail once the software detects them. Please fix those errors or replace the disks, otherwise won't be possible to execute the backups. Thanks.
