Backup fromNVM2 drive much slower than SATA

Thread needs solution

I have an HP gaming desktop. My main drive is a 512 GB NVM2 drive and a 1TB SATA. The SATA is a clone of the NVM2. When comparing backup rates, the transfer rate from the NVM2 is about 20MB per second. The SATA transfer rate is around 300MB per second. Are there things I can do to improve transfer rates from the NVM2 drive?

It is difficult to say why there is or is not a difference. The difference you are reporting is extreme. Am I correct in assuming that the backup is being made to a USB drive? Is it the same drive in each case? Is it always attached to the same USB port?

Pardon me. My initial response is deleted. I've been awake 15 minutes and no coffee yet. Yes the backups are being made to the same drive on a USB port. Yes the backup drive is always connected to the same port.

I'm going to try something. I have some other drives on a server on my network. I'm going to pick a drive and do an A/B comparison. I will report back on that. It won't be today. Have to babysit my granddaughter.
