Backup only in private / home network for Notebook?

Thread solved

I use Acronis 2019 on my Desktop and also on my Notebook Computer. All Backups are stored via Network connection in a NAS (Netgear 10 TB). As long as my Notebook is placed at home connected to my private / home network, everything works fine. When I am on business-trip, of course there is no connection to the home network. So I receive multiple failure messages that the backup was not successful. Of course I could set up a VPN connection, but on the other hand, I am not willing to "waiste" expensive and limited mobile data connection for huge backup files with several GB. Is there any possibility to configure Acronis to start backup tasks only when connected to the own private / home network and skip if the Notebook is connected to external foreign networks? Maybe tihs is some new feature for future releases of Acronis ?

Armin, welcome to these public User Forums.

ATI 2020 has introduced a new feature to help with this type of issue, where you can configure ATI to only backup when on selected networks, not on any others.

See the ATI 2020 User Guide: New in this version for more information.

Hi Steve,

thanks for your comment. I recognized that also in the advertisment and upgrade-information for ATI 2020. I just upgraded my system to ATI 2020 and found all settings for

  • Backups only in selected WLANs
  • Backups only if notebook is powered by external power-supply or above certain battery-level.

So far I was not able to test individually, but I assume that these features are tested by Acronis and will work well.

Armin, I trust that these new features have been tested by Acronis but I haven't yet had a need to test them for myself...!
