Backup paused in ATI2021

Thread solved

Whenever I run this batch file to get the notebook to shut the screen to save battery, ATI2021 also pauses its operation. Why is that? I thought only sending the notebook to sleep, hibernate will stop ATI2021 operation. Does Surface Pro 7 think I am closing the lid when I run this batch file to close off the screen? I changed the power options so closing the lid does not hibernate.

From my experience, if you have a running backup operation and close a laptop screen / lid, then it puts the machine to sleep and suspends any active operations, regardless of the option in the ATI configuration to prevent sleep!

What does work, and I use daily, is to wake my laptop from sleep (while the screen / lid is closed) to run my scheduled backups, after which the laptop returns to sleep when the task has finished.  If I open the screen while such a scheduled task is active, then I cannot close it again until after the task has finished!

Hello Steve.

Actually, the Surface Pro 7 has no lid to close. This batch file only switches the notebook screen off, but ATI2021 seems to pause operation when the screen is off. Is that an option in ATI2021?

I have never seen any options that relate to whether the screen in on or off, so I guess it depends on what exactly is happening when you switch the notebook screen off via your batch file??

Can you not just set the display timeout value to blank it after a couple of minutes of inactivity without needing a batch file?

Hi Steve.

It appears when the power option shut off the screen, ATI2021 continues to operate. Using the batch file to shut off the screen appears to pause the ATI2021 operations.
