Backup Progress ??

Thread needs solution

Backing up about 300GB from Windows 10 to a 4TB WD Elements USB HDD. Worked once before on 2019/08/29. Set to full system backup, not scheduled, i.e. on demand. Started yesterday at 11:00 am. It is now today at 7:00 am, i.e. its been running 20 hours so far. The WD shows continuous activity. However, the Acronis True Image "Backup" screen still shows nothing in the progress bar and it continues to report "Calculating Time Remaining". The "Activity" screen shows nothing except a previous backup attempt which ran for four hours before I stopped it and started over. The "Recovery" screen shows "An operation is in progress. Please wait for the current operation to complete." How long should this take? Shouldn't the progress bar be showing some progress by now?

David, welcome to these public User Forums.

Given the length of time you are telling about here, I would suggest running CHKDSK /F for both your source and destination drives here, to ensure that there are no file system issues at work with why ATI is taking so long?

300GB of source data does sound to be very large, especially for a Windows OS drive, so I would suggest considering how this could be split into separate backups rather than having such a large single backup.

Personally, I try to keep my Windows 10 OS drive separate from my user data, documents, pictures, videos etc, such that my OS backup is only around 60GB size and is just the OS & applications.
