Backup Time is it Accurate ?

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

Not sure if I posted in the right place first time,As I did not get an answer.

Sorry if I got it wrong, and duplicated my post!

I am using Windows 10 with latest updates from Microsoft.

I would like to know how long Acronis  2019 took to make a Full backup of my Boot Drive C:\

In the Activity Window backup 211.5 GB, Speed 3,175.3 Mbps, Time 7 Mins 58 secs, Data to recover 217.5 GB

It takes a lot longer than 7 mins when I use the Acronis boot CD to make an image of C:\ drive !

So what is happening here? why the difference in time to make a backup?

And as A side issue I requested an Acronis backup to start backing up at  7:00PM

and it starts anywhere in between 7:05PM and 7:20PM..

Any Ideas why that should be?

George, there are different factors that can be involved in the timing of any backup task, these include the type of disk (HDD or SSD), the CPU, Memory, what other activities are happening, along with the destination drive, how connected, speed etc.

If the Activity page information is saying 7 minutes for the 200 GB + of data backed up, then sounds very good to me.

Using a boot CD to perform backups will always be a lot slower due to lack of options that are available in Windows for caching, multi-tasking etc.  CD is also a slower media than such as USB devices.

Acronis does various preparation tasks before the actual backup process itself will start to show progress.  This can show as 'Preparing data...' or as 'Calculating time...' and can take some minutes to complete.
