Can't created new full backup

Thread solved

I have 4 HDs backed up to an USB drive. Total space of the 4 drives is about 2.8 TB; USB drive is 3.6TB.

One of my HDs is 1.8 TB of data. If I remove all backups of this drive, I can backup fine. However, after doing 5 days of incrementals, the new full does not complete. I don't see any errors, but I'm guessing the reason is because it can't create the new full backup with the old full still on the USB drive (not enough disk space). I have auto cleanup on, but I think that doesn't run until the backup is finished.

Is there a way to get around this?

Btw, I am only storing 1 version of the chain. Option screen attached.

George, all versions of ATI work on the principle that nothing is deleted by automatic cleanup until after a successful new Full backup has been created.

What this means for you is that your 3.6TB backup storage drive is simply not large enough to hold the backups you are creating, i.e. for the larger 1.8TB drive, you would need to store 2 x Full backups plus 5 incrementals for that one drive alone before the oldest backup files would be deleted.

Acronis do not provide an option to delete files before making a new backup within the tool, so if you really did want to do this, then it would either have to be done manually using the new 'Clean up versions' tool for the task, or else by using a Pre Command script within the task.
