Change backup location in 2019

Thread solved

I recently pulled out of storage an old PC which I want to pass on to a friend. I noticed that I have TI 2019 installed on it. Since I last used the PC the location of the TI backup image has changed but the PC is still pointing to the old non-existing location. How in the heck do I change the location in TI. If I attempt to change the destination TI pop up a window to test the connection to the old location. I cannot determine how to change the destination to the new location. The old (valid) backups are located in the new location.

John, welcome back to the forums!

I suspect that your backup destination may be on a network drive in which case it is not possible to change it without first deleting the backup task and recreating it or using the 'Add existing backup' option from the new destination.

For any local backups then there should be no issue with selecting a new destination.

Hi Steve, much thanks for the answer. You are correct the backups are on a network drive. I chose to put ALL backups on internal drives in my desktop. Some time ago I decided to upgrade the desktop drives to larger capacities and remove some of the drives. The Acronis backups were on one of the drives I removed. Because I was not using the LT at the time I did not notice that it was backing up to the drive I removed. When I installed the larger drives I rearranged all of my backups and moved the destination to the new larger drives, all of the drives on the desktop, except for the boot drive are shared out to any PC that connects to my network. I mainly use the desktop system because it is faster than my laptops and has a ton of storage. However, I'm considering upgrading one of the smaller drives (6TB) to something larger. Also, I really need to clean some of the existing drives and remove stuff, especially large folders, that are no longer relevant.I got lazy and just migrated to larger drives as space bacame an issue.

Just to backup the LT, I did create a new task and used the "Add existing backup". Previously I did not connect the dots.

Thanks again for the feedback.

HI, I am trying to restore a backup from one drive to my new SSD Harddrive in order to cloan it. I successfully made the back and verified it however when I go into the system and pick the restore location my new drive is not selectable. I have the drive I want to clone in the machine, my backup is on an external drive USB drive and the new SSD drive is connected via USB.

Robert, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but your topic is completely different to the original one here.  Please use the option to Create New Topic after selecting the correct Forum area that matches the version of Acronis you are using, then we can try to help you.
