Change the IP adress of the storage NAS for an existing save destination

Thread solved

Hi, I would like to change the adress IP of the Storage NAS for 2 of my existing saves, but I cant. I I click on change destination, Acronis try to open the old destination which doesnt exist anymore, since the IP adress of the NAS has changed, wich is kind stupid, since I want to change the destination.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks.

Franck, welcome to these public User Forums.

ATI tries to access the current destination for backups going to a network resource, so you may need to approach this in a different way.

One option here is to use the option to 'Clone settings' for your current backup to NAS tasks, this will create a duplicate task in the GUI with the same name but with the prefix (1) added.

You should then be able to set the destination for the duplicate task(s) to point to the new address of the NAS but this will want to start again as a new backup task, so with a new Full backup.

Another option is to remove the current task from the GUI (leaving the files in place on the NAS) then use the option to 'Add existing backup' and select the most recent file from the NAS at the new address, after which you would then need to reconfigure the settings for the task.

The final option would involve manually trying to edit the IP address of the NAS in the script file for your backup task (in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder) plus also do this for the Windows Registry where the credentials for the NAS connection are held.

See KB 58004: Acronis True Image 2016: Troubleshooting Issues Related to NAS Credentials - for information on where to look in the Windows Registry.

Have you attempted to change the IP of the NAS? You can avoid changes to IP address by using device name instead. For Synology NAS the default device name is DISKSTATION.

Have to run off now but have a few more ideas.

OK, I am back.

Does the NAS use a static IP address or is the IP address allocated by DHCP from your router? If it uses DHCP, you could change the IP address on the router so that it is a reserved address. Reboot the NAS and it should then have the correct IP address. I have reserved IP address for both NIC on my Synology NAS. On some devices I use both reserved IP and static IP address.

Edit: Just noticed this thread is marked as solved, so I assume Steve's suggestion worked. Need to get used to the solved flag being available. Old dog; new trick.

Well NAS has a static IP adress, but I changed save location by putting it on another NAS, that's why I needed to change the adress in the save parameter. Would be a lot easier if in the parameter you could edit the adress manually, or if you click on "change location" it open up the "my PC" location instead of the last saved location. Any way thanks for your help.
