Clone 'content' only from one harddrive to another.

Thread solved

I have just bought a Crucial 1TB SSD drive which comes with Acronis True Image.
My exisiting HD is 2TB in size but only 250gb of the space is used.
Is there a way to only clone the contents of the HD to my SSD drive.
When I tried to do a clone normally it said I did not have enough space on the SSD.

Andrew, welcome to these public User Forums.

I would recommend running CHKDSK for your HDD 2TB drive if you are being told your new 1TB SSD cannot hold the 250GB of data from your HDD as that suggests there are file system errors on the HDD, perhaps in the information related to free space on the drive.

I would further recommend making a full backup of the HDD before reattempting the clone operation - this is your safety net in case of any errors etc.

If you are still seeing an issue with cloning, then try using the option in Windows Disk Management to Shrink the volume on the HDD to the minimum size - this will also give you an indication of if there are issues with the HDD.

Finally, please see KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to the free version of ATI supplied by vendors such as Crucial.
