Clone SSD With True Image 2019?

Thread needs solution

I am unsure what it is you want to do. Am I correct in assuming that your computer has an SSD which you wish to clone? As ATI 2019 supports Windows 7.1 you should have no issues. Similarly, if you have a mechanical drive you wish to clone to an SSD that also should work. (I have successfully installed Win 7.1 (64) on an system with an SSD.)

With ATI 2019 you can clone from within Windows without the need for the system to restart, which reduces the risk of things going wrong. However, as always you should make a backup before attempting the clone. Once the clone is completed, shut down the computer, remove the old drive, and then check the BIOS/UEIF to make sure the new drive is selected for booting.

Hope this helps

I want to clone (I hope that's the right term) my whole system, including the programs, to an external hard drive.

Can you explain ' clone from within Windows ' for me Lan, is that without using ATI 2019?

Until ATI 2018 when you cloned a drive, ATI would reboot and run a the task outside windows. Now you can use ATI to clone without ATI having to reboot the system.

Cloning makes a bootable replica of the drive being cloned. You can only clone disks, not full systems - so you cannot clone a multi drive disk. [Here I am referring to physical drives, not partitions.] Owing to restrictions on the way Windows works, you cannot clone to may a USB HDD bootable. To be bootable, the drive has to be an internal one. Cloning is designed to create a replacement drive for the current one.

This raises the question, do you really want to clone the drive, or just make a backup which can be recovered at a later time if needed.

Please post back if you need further information or assistance.

Sorry but you're talking way over my head Lan, I guess I want to make a backup of everything including the programs. Is this possible? I don't think I have any partitions. I only have one SSD drive I think.

thank you for taking the time with me!

OK. If you just want to make a backup ATI will do what you want to do. You can do a one off-backup, or do regular (scheduled) backups. If you decided to go with ATI 2109 I suggest you do a quick read of Chapter 2 which explains the basics of using the program.

If you have any questions post on the Forum and someone should be able to assist.

Is that a user manual Lan? Where can I get it??

Yes, it is the user manual. You can download it from here.

PS Not the easiest thing to find where to download it from … took me a while.
