Cloning with True Image 2019

Thread solved

Good afternoon,

I'm new to using Acronis.  I usually use Clonezilla to clone my source PC to a an an external usb drive.  The I boot from my Clonezilla drive, select the source and target and good to go.

I'm trying to get TrueImage 2019 to work in a similar way.  I created a clone of my source PC.  I understood that it would be bootable and I can restore to multiple PCs.  At least that's what tech support said.  I can't get it to work.  Any advise will be appreciated.  Thank you.

There are many things to consider. First, because of restrictions imposed by Microsoft you cannon clone OS to a USB drive from within Windows that is bootable.

Next, given what you are planning to do it would be better to create as Disks and Partitions Backup. This can be done from within Windows or using the recovery media. You then boot the other PCs using the recovery media, and restore to the appropriate drive. In order to avoid licencing problems with windows, the new PCs should have Windows activated before the recovery to the new PC as the licence is tied to the particular hardware. When booting the recovery media then you need to respect the UEFI/BIOS setting - if it is a recent PC you should select the UEFI slecetion for the Recovery Media.

If you have a large number of PCs that you need do the cloning to, then Sanp&Deploy may be a better solution.
