Cloud Backup Won't Backup Second User Account Files

Thread needs solution

I recently consolidated 2 computers to one computer, creating a separate user account for each of the 2 users. I have always used True Image on this computer for both local and cloud backups (and restores) without trouble. This was always just with one user account.

We use the C: drive for Windows/programs and a separate physical drive, the D: drive, for data. Additionally, we use OneDrive to store all of our files and we have the files stored locally.

I added select folders from the D: drive from the second user account to the cloud backup. I was able to select them okay but none of the files actually get backed up. The backup runs but no new files or folders are actually backed up.

I do a full disc image nightly in a combination of full/incremental backups and this works without trouble for all folders from the D: drive for both user accounts.

The local and cloud backups are behaving quite differently.

Any idea why my cloud backup data won't actually back up the second users folders and files?

Thanks.

Daryl, the first place to start for this issue is to look at the Cloud backup task log details, to see what messages are recorded there?

Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool and use this to look at the logs.  You are welcome to either attach a copy of the log file to this post, or else to use copy & paste to copy the messages into a forum post update.

Thanks Steve for the direction. I downloaded and ran the tool and have attached the short and regular versions of the log file here.

The error says the folder doesn't exit or is corrupt, neither of which is true.

I did some further searching on the error: which led me to this article. I've followed the instructions there but cannot get rid of the error. I've unlinked this PC from OneDrive, deleted the folder, relinked OneDrive and the files are currently downloading back to my computer. Once all the files are downloaded, I'll try the backup again.

It appears that something went awry with OneDrive during the initial setup and moving it from the C: drive to the D: drive.

I'll keep you posted but I'd appreciate any other advice if I'm on the wrong path.

Darryl

Well, that didn't work. Changing the OneDrive settings, unlinking, re-linking and downloading made no difference. The files won't back up.

I'm open to ideas.

Darryl

The first recommendation here is to run CHKDSK D: /R to check that you have no file system errors or bad sectors on this drive.

The next suggestion would be to try making a local backup (to an external drive) of the same source Folders & Files and see whether this gives the same error messages?

Thanks for the suggestions. The file system checks out okay and a local backup fails in the same manner.

I'm pretty sure there is a problem with the OneDrive reparse points not clearing properly when OneDrive is configured to keep files locally.

I've opened a ticket with Customer Support to see if they have any suggestions. In the meantime, since we need to get some work done, the second computer is back up and running.
