Diagnosing faults in email with Notifications in options

Thread solved

I am looking for help in ways to diagnose a connectivity problem with Acronis 2019 and mail.

My email notifications used to work well.

My host changed the mail server and when I enter the new server settings in the file back up options the test messages fail. I know that the settings are correct because other applications and email clients use the same settings and successfully connect and send email.

There are a range of ports to connect to SSL /TLS  or no secure port. It is also possible to connect to the mailserver by a range of names. However, it would seem that if Acronis fails on a test message it then wont test other options. (rather like it caches the failure and instantly produces the error message)

I am hoping that someone can direct me to a log file that might give more detail as to why the connection is failing.

I have tried a range of settings and names and only get the message "Failed to send the test e-mail. Check the specified e-mail settings." - and I've previous mentioned I know them to work in other places.

TIA

G. Orr, welcome to these public User Forums.

Please see: KB 46840: Acronis True Image: Troubleshooting E-mail Notification Issues which has links to other documents.

Note: you should not be using SSL with port 465 as Acronis still uses a version of SSL that is deemed to be insecure and is blocked by 99% of ISP's.  The recommendation is to use TLS with port 587 in most cases.
