DISK WIPE TIME ACRONIS TI 19
So yesterday at 1400 i hooked up my Seagate external 2 gig hdd to wipe it using the utility in ACRONIS TI2019. Originally the time estimate given was 6 hours and it jumped around between 4 and six hours. Then around 6 hours in just stayed at 4 hours for about 6 hours. The progress bar moved and eventually during the night got down to 33 seconds and now that was 6 hours ago 18 hours later since i started, the progress bar looks done, the small window on the lower right still looks like its working, and my hdd light fades on and off as it is working. Now it looks like it is hung up. I formated the drive before i wiped it.
Is this normal? Can i cancel the process safely? What about disconnecting the drive?
Newbie here, so i thank everyone for your help in advance!

Steve,
Thanks for the quick response. I am just concerned because it has been "stuck / hung" on 33 seconds for the past 6+ hours. Just seems that 6+ hours on 33 seconds remaining is a LONG time :-( Greatfull i have jot needed my computer for anything purposefull this weekend!
Ok i get that the wipe process is LONG, so no more doing this with my main computer!!
So the next question is how long do I wait on 33 seconds for over 8+ hours now?

Daniel, sorry but impossible to say how long you would need to wait - the time estimates in many products are notoriously inaccurate, including those from Acronis in my experience.
If you are approaching a point where you need to use the computer for other things and want to end the clean task, then I can only suggest trying to cancel the task and if that doesn't work, go for a PC shutdown.
Once you have rebooted, then launch an Administrator level Command Prompt (or Powershell window), then issue the following commands:
diskpart
list disk (to identify the external Seagate USB drive, i.e. 1)
select disk 1
clean
create partition primary
active
format fs=ntfs quick
assign
exit
The above will try to wipe the external Seagate drive then create a single NTFS partition on it then assign a drive letter so that you can use it in Windows.

Steve,
Thanks again for the guidance! I'll let it sit for a while and then follow your advise.
May my lacknof knowledge but ACRONIS TI should develope something that is also windows based so you can continue like a number of other products on the market... especially when it is an external drive.
Ill keep you updated!
