Empty Folders at Backup Location

Thread needs solution

Hello All,

Recently transferred my Acronis license to a different pc (the one listed here in my profile). Reinstalled Acronis to this pc. Backup folders created with old pc (saved to external usb hd) now appeared empty. These very same backup files and folders were viewable from old pc installation.

Was prompted by support to do a "Repair" of the Acronis installation, and subsequently reinstall program altogether. These actions now yield the ability to view the contents of System files and sub-folders only. My personal file folders (Desktop, Documents, Music, Pictures, etc.,) still register as empty when attempting to view them at the backup location.

I did a successful restore of these personal files to the current pc, despite the appearance of the empty folders. However, this situation makes it impossible to pick and choose which files and sub-folders you want to include when setting up the restore, as the main default folders appear empty.

I also created a new backup of current pc, using the same external usb backup location, with the exact same results. System files and sub-folders are viewable from backup location, but not the contents of the aforementioned personal file folders. I'm stumped!

Jeff, this is an ownership or a view options issue.

In Explorer, check that your view options are set to show hidden / system files, then if you are still unable to see some files etc, then check the ownership for those files or folders.

I wondered if this might have something to do with my folder options. Not something I’ve ever really toyed with before. Will definitely explore this.

Thank you Steve!
