Error 0xb03e9: Cannot open the backup

Thread needs solution

We have two PC's that we're trying to backup with the latest version of Acronis True Image 2019 Premium build 14110.  Both PC backup jobs are set to full PC at a disk level and the destination is a portable hard drive.  The problem was also present in the previous build.

Both PC backups worked fine for a few days until the PC was restarted.  After the restart we got "Error 0xbe9: Cannot open the backup Acronis True Image".

In both cases files on the portable hard drive can be browsed and new files can be written to the drive, and the previous backup files are visible.

If I delete the backup job and re-create it then the backup works fine again, until the first reboot, at which point the problem returns.

I can only assume that this is a problem with the 2019 version of True Image, as both PC's showing the problem arev running different versions of Windows, use different model portable hard drives, and both run different anti-virus software.

Mark,

This is a long shot but worth a try.  Prior to a restart of your PC's, use Windows USB eject feature to disconnect the portable drives then, pull the cable from the PC.

Now, restart the PC and after the machine is booted into Windows reconnect the portable drive.  Can the backup task now run without error?

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to test that scenario right now because I’m working on both of the problem PC’s remotely.  At some point, if things can’t be resolved remotely I will have to head down there and perhaps try your suggestion, although it wouldn’t amount to a solution anyway.

You are correct, it would not be a solution.  My thinking is that device initialization upon restart is at root of the issue.  If true this would give support a starting point from which to work to attempt to provide a fix.
