Excluding a whole partition from a drive image?
I'm trying to exclude a whole partition from a drive image creation. I have an SSD partitioned as C:, D: & Q: where Q: is a scratch drive and doesn't need to be backed up. Obviously I could switch to backing up just the desired partitions but I prefer to do a drive image if possible as it makes recovering a bootable drive easier.
Having read some threads here about exclusion problems, I created a new task for my tests. I add Q:\ to the list of exclusions by using the drop-down list from the three dots on the right of the 'add' text box so ATI selects it for itself (I have tried just typing it in too). I've ensured that the 'Exclude files' tick box is ticked. But guess what - Q: was still added to the image. Is excluding a partition like this something that should work or am I expecting too much?
ATI2019 is 17750 and W10x64 Pro 2004 updated yesterday.

Thanks, that makes sense. Of course, doing that changes the backup type from drive to partitions which I was trying to avoid. Fortunately, it's not something I need to do, I was just exploring the possibilities, so I'll just leave things as they are.

I'm not sure what you are losing if you do a Disk and Partitions backup and just deselect the partition holding Q:? What is the difference between a "drive" and "partition" backup type?
If you want the Q: partition in the backup, but simply empty, have you tried to exclude "Q:\* or Q:\*.* or the like?
