Failed to add the backup to the backup list

Thread needs solution

Imaging 1TB HDD, gets almost to the end, then fails with error message something like "Cannot open data stream". he advice given with the error message is to try removing the backup and then re-add it through the "add existing backup" route. This does not work. This has happened twice now, and since it takes around 3 days to do, I am loath to start once more. Looking at the image files in Windows explorer it seems that very near the end of the process something goes wrong, and 5 attempts are made to complete the last 70MB os so. Then it gives up and the error message is generated. The individual tib files seem OK and can be opened in explorer. I would be grateful for any hints as to how to sort this. I am running Acronis TI 2019 on Windows 10.

Mike, please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link in my signature below) and use this to review the log file for your backup operation. This should provide more information on why you are seeing any error messages?

I would recommend doing a CHKDSK on both the source and destination drives for this backup task to ensure that you do not have any file system issues at play here.

Also, if possible, try splitting the backup into smaller segments, i.e. if the source drive has more than one partition, backup each partition separately, or else backup user files & folders (for documents, music, etc) as a separate task.
