Failed to read from sector - CRC Error

Thread needs solution

Hello,
While my backups were working fine, for the past few weeks I have been unable to back up with Acronis due to this error.

I followed  posts of this forum regarding CRC errors (I can't post the links there, because i'm not allowed)

Unfortunately, nothing comes out: I made a chkdsk of my SSD which is fine, as well as my internal hard drive and my backup disk. All three have no problem.
The incriminated disk seems to be disk 1, so the SSD, but the Sandisk SSD Dashboard software reports a disk in very good condition (it is recent, by the way).

The SMART results of the two other hard disks are normal as well (according to CrystalDisk Info).

What can I do?

How many disk drives do you have in your computer?

Acronis used a different drive numbering system to that used by Windows, so Disk 1 in the Acronis error message is actually Disk 0 as far as Windows is concerned.

Please check your disk 0 for any errors using either CHKDSK /F or else the diagnostics provided by the drive maker.

I have 2 disks. The main one is SSD (with Windows 10 on it) and the second one is a hard drive.

I made a CHKDSK /F /R for both and it returned no errors.

In addition, the hard disk is not one of the disks backed up in Acronis.

CHKDSK can only run on disk partitions that have an allocated drive letter, so if your Disk 0 (shown in Windows Disk Management) has hidden / system partitions such as an EFI System partition or Recovery (WinRE) partition then this error could come from one of those rather than from the main C: Windows OS partition.

One quick way to test this is to create a Partition backup of each hidden partition, one by one and see if you get the same error reported?

Note: In the Disks & Partitions source selection panel, click on 'Full partition list' to see the hidden partitions.
