Give us back the ability to name the .tib backup files

Thread needs solution

Wherever I click, it seems impossible to determine the name of the .tib output file that is created for a (Custom scheme, Full) backup. After running a job the names are horrible combinations like "KXG50ZNV256G NVMe TOSHIBA 256GB AADA4105_full_b2_s1_v1.tib", and I have to change it afterwards to something intelligible like "20190103 Full backup C.tib"

Please give us back the ability to name the backup files, like earlier versions had.
Preferably with macros in it, like e.g. {date} for the current date.

(Running version 2019, Build 14690 on Windows 10)

Thanks
Jan Doggen

Jan, welcome to these public User Forums.

Not sure from seeing 4 new topic posts from you whether you are wanting to report issues here or to respond to the wishlist topic for Acronis True Image.

See topic:  Acronis True Image Wishlist - where you may wish to copy some of your posts?

When you create a new backup task in the ATI GUI, then Acronis supply a default name for the task, which in turn is also used to name the files created by that task, so name such as KXG50ZNV256G NVMe TOSHIBA 256GB AADA4105 is used because ATI takes this from your disk drive.

You do not have to accept or use the default name shown by ATI - you can change this to be whatever name you want it to be by over-typing the default name when it is initially shown, or else by using the Rename option shown in the drop-down menu for the task in the GUI.

If you rename the task before making the first backup, then your chosen name will be used for the files created.

If you rename the task after making a backup, then any further files created will use the new name but previous files will have the original name from the task.

If you want to use macros such as %DATE% or %TIME% in the file name, then this is still possible but requires that you manually edit the associated Script .tib.tis file for the task.

See forum topic: Customize the tib.tis file, unable to save in TI 2018 - for more information.
