How to add old backups to new Backup database

Thread needs solution

I have been using Acronis 2018 for quite a while to do a separate backup of a specific folder.  The drive I had the Acronis software installed on died so I replaced it and then installed Acronis 2019.  I want to somehow 'read in' all of the old backup file info (from the .tib files) into the new Acronis 2019 so that knows about the old backups.  I then would recreate the job to continue doing the folder backups.

Or do I need to recreate the job first doing the backups and pointing it to the same external drive and directory I had the original job back up to, then somehow read in the old backup files that are in that directory?

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

Generally True Image will scan your computer for existing backups however, that does not mean that some or all of them may not be found by the application.

If you have backups that are not shown in the list, you can add them manually.

To add backups manually:
  1. In the Backup section, at the bottom of the backup list, click the arrow icon, and then click Add
existing backup. The program opens a window where you can browse for backups on your
    computer
  2. Navigate to and select a backup version (a .tib file), and then click Add.
The entire backup will be added to the list.

You should see when you do this that your backup tasks display a Reconfigure button in place of the Back up now button.  Use this to reconfigure the task by selecting source and target backup locations for each task.  Your tasks then should become functional.

Enchantech, thanks for the help.  I was able to add the last backup to Acronis then reconfigure the job.  I have about 30 backup files for this backup job in a version chain that I want Acronis to know about.  Do I have to add those one at a time?

I added a second backup file of this job then wanted to see if when I went to recover something, it would allow me to pick from which version of the backup I could get the file from.  I don't see where, when you want to restore something, that you can pick from which backup you want to restore it from.  What am I missing?

Thanks again for your help,

Dan

You should only add the latest backup file for any version chain created by the same task - it is not necessary to add any further files for that task, but you may need to perform a validation for that task to have it pick up the other files in the chain for the GUI task and the Recovery drop-down listing of restore points (one for each file available in the chain).

Thanks, Steve. That seems to have done the trick.  I now see the other backups when I go to Recover.

Dan, good to hear all is ok now, thanks for the feedback.
