Roland, welcome to these public User Forums.

If your C: drive is full, then you really need to clear some space on this drive as running any OS from a drive with no free space is going to have signicant performance impact!

VSS is a Microsoft OS component and is just used by Acronis as a method of obtaining snapshot data.  You would need to search the Microsoft support sites for help in whether the storage location for VSS data can be moved to another drive or not?

You can download and use the standalone Acronis VSS Doctor tool which will show you what settings should be used for VSS on all your drives and indicate the errors that are being posted due to lack of free storage space.  Link in my signature.

Hello Roland,

changing the current volume where the VSS storage is located to a different one is supported on the server operating systems only.  This is done with the vssadmin delete shadowstorage and vssadmin add shadowstorage commands. This will delete the current shadow storage and create a new one on the volume you specify. See also Microsoft TechNet: Vssadmin delete shadowstorage and Vssadmin add shadowstorage.
