How do I restore an entire pc from a .tibx file?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Recently my entire domain controller got encrypted but we have a back up file but it's in the form of a .tibx

When I boot into the acronis iso it searched only for .tib files.

I've looked through various posts and forums and I've found nothing.

Perhaps there is a way to convert the .tibx to a .tib or a vmdk.

Any suggestions?

As I understand it, .tibx are normally created by the Acronis Mobile backup app - they are not created by the Acronis True Image for Windows product, so the Acronis rescue media (Windows) would not know what to do with any .tibx file.

Looking in the Acronis Knowledgebase would suggest that your .tibx file could have been created by the Acronis Backup business product, not True Image, therefore I would suggest checking your Acronis Account for any ISO media download for that product, plus perhaps opening a topic in the Acronis Backup 12.5 Forum about this question.

See also the Acronis Backup 12.5 User Guide: Recovery section.

well...why then do I see this...

And the back up that I made yesterday won't recognize the validated backup it made yesterday...

Will it not restore any tibx file??

When I use Linux, image files can be restored no matter when the backup was made.

It appears that Acronis demands that the restored image is bound to the backup location and will not allow a validated tibx file to be restored unless it is somehow connected to the precise location from where it came.

wow...this sure looks like a huge waste of time and money...wow....

Daniel, welcome to these public User Forums.

This old forum topic was raised at a time when .tibx files were only used by the Mobile backup feature of ATI 2019.  Since that time, ATI 2020 has been released which now creates .tibx files for all new Disks & Partitions backup tasks.

What application are you using here?  Is it ATI 2020, if so, then I would suggest using the option to 'Create New topic' in the ATI 2020 Forum and reading through the FAQ document found near the top of that forum.

.tibx files do have more conditions for how you manage them, especially if moving them or copying them due to the dependencies between files.
