How to restore from one External drive to another External drive
Here is how to restore from one external drive to another external drive (it is not obvious because Restore PC has an implication that it will restore to the internal drive).
0. Use Add Backup first and add the path where the backup is.
1. Select Recovery
2. Select Recover PC (don't worry, this will not recover to the internal drive)
3. You will get a message saying "The computer will be recovered ...". Again, don't panic.
4. Select "Recover disks"
5. Select Disks or Partitions at the top
6. It will go gray for a long time ... just hang loose
7. On the right under Recover To, click the dropdown
8. Select the drive (probably the one that says USB)
9. It will again go gray and spin ... it is not hung
10. Click Recover Now
It will flip over to the tab that says Backup but it is really doing a Recovery (see the bottom of the window). It will point the arrow from the backup to your PC but not to worry, it is restoring to the drive selected above.
If I remember correctly, in step 4 you can select something like "Partitions" and recover just selected partition.

Step 7 is no-go on my system. You state:
"7. On the right under Recover To, click the dropdown"
On my Acronis True Image 2019 there is no dropdown for selection of my external HDD that is my intended target.
How do I get my target HDD available for selecting "Recover to"?
Thank you for your post. The issue is right on target for me. I just hit this obstacle of Acronis TI not showing my HDD for selection in "Recover to".

On my Acronis 2019 there is no "Recover PC" after Recovery. And, in fact, after clicking on Recovery, Acronis immediately begins "Loading Backup Content" after which it does not even see either the external drive containing the validated backup or the destination SSD to which recovery is targeted. Any other suggestions from anybody?
