Incomplete Clone of disk in 2019 and 2020

Thread solved

I'm using True Image 2019 and 2020. As a backup, I'm cloning my disk. In both software version, I recognized, that the clone is incomplete. My outlook.ost has not been copied to the clone.

This is one file, I found being missing. There may be other files too.

I reported it to Acronis a week ago, without any reaction.

Any idea? Can I do a clone before windows starts?

This is controlled by Microsoft in the Windows registry. Run regedit.exe and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToSnapshot

You will see all the files to be excluded on the right side. You can modify the registry by deleting the entries for file types you want to include in your backups.

Thanks! I will report. In my laptop, i have 2 Samsung 970 EVO Plus with 1TB. By cloning from 0 to 1 I would like in case of trouble with disk 0 to boot just from disk 1.

What do I need still from the snapshot-list to delete? Pleas see attaches file.

Best regards, Matthias

Matthias, cloning between 2 internal disks and then booting into Windows with both those drives connected is a recipe for problems.  By definition cloning duplicates the data (subject to how performed) including the disk signature, so your 2 internal disks will both report the same disk signature and cause a signature collision.  This in turn may prevent you from booting from one or both of these drives.

If you want to avoid the restrictions being imposed by Microsoft VSS rules, then you should perform the clone by booting from the Acronis rescue media to do this completely outside of Windows, and then boot with one drive removed.
