Issue with Acronis and SSD during backup - did it kill my SSD?

Thread needs solution

I've been backing up to an external Samsung EVO 850 500Gb for some time with no issues at all.  Weekly I do a full manual backup.  For some reason it got hung up today.  I had to finally kill the process and reboot. Now I cannot see the SSD not matter how I attach it.  With the usual external case or other adapter.  Did Acronis kill my SSD?

I cannot think of any reason why Acronis doing a backup to your SSD would kill or damage it in any way, and I have not seen any similar reports of such issues here in the forums.

What is more likely is that the external case being used has suffered a problem and that in turn may have caused the SSD to become corrupted rendering it inaccessible.

I can only suggest using any diagnostic tools provided by the SSD maker to try to check whether the SSD is really dead or whether it needs to be reformatted or can be recovered?

Dedicated diagnostic utilities from the disk manufacturers take the longest time to complete the checks, but provide the most accurate methods of checking whether the disk is good or needs replacement:

 - Intel SSDs: Intel Memory and Storage Tool (GUI)

 - Transcend SSDs: Transcend SSD Scope

 - Silicon Power disks: SP ToolBox

 - Toshiba disks: Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool Utility

 - Crucial disks: Crucial Storage Executive

 - SanDisk disks: SanDisk SSD Dashboard tool / SanDisk SSD Dashboard user guide

As previously mentioned it doesn't matter which case or adapter I use with the SSD at this point.

I installed Samsung Magician.  But nothing. At least while within Windows and the SSD connected via USB...as always.
