The answer/solution is that a fix will be available but when? I keep updating my backup 2019 and yet to find that there are no updates available...

Christopher, welcome to these public User Forums.

I am not aware of any new fixes / updates being provided for ATI 2019 for Mac or Windows now that ATI 2020 is the main focus for Acronis.  I suspect that the answer here would be to update to 2020 for any resolution.

Thank you for your reply. This is the second time I run in into a bug in their backup software where they don't fix it and just as you say, the solution is to buy a new version. Well, I paid for this software for this version of Mac OS X, I have not upgraded or anything. I will wait a bit longer, and if I do not see any will to solve this, I guess it is time to ditch Acronis. 

Got a great offer to upgrade to 2020, and now it works. I still don't like this business model, but problem solved at the moment.
