Issue with Windows 10 Updates breaking restore?

Thread needs solution

With Acronis True Image 2017:
I have some backup's from November that I use as "clean" installs without anything beyond the basic OS install. No apps yet installed beyond some basic utilities such as Malwarebytes, CCleaner, Notepad++, and others like that.

On the 25th I restored from a November backup and ran Windows Update a few times till it was all updated then made a new backup.

I tried to restore it via booting to a USB drive using the same settings as I always do.  It seems to complete most processes but when is seems to have completed the primary partition it errors out that it can' recover it.  In the log I see a script error and an issue resizing the partition.

I decided to go ahead and purchase True Image 2019 and try.  Same exact result as v2017.

I know I can go update by update but that is a *lot* of variables doing many many restore tests.  Before I do that I'd like to see if anyone else has seen this and knows what might be the cause.

Also, is there a way to save the log to the USB drive?

Thank you,

Kelly

Kelly,

Can you post the partition order the backup you are trying to recover has?  I'm wondering if the primary partition is not the last partition.  If there is a recovery partition behind the primary partition that may be the issue with resizing.

I recently did a restore myself while upgrading to a larger disk.  The disk had recently had the fall Win 10 edition upgrade performed and as a result had an 850MB recovery partition at the end of the disk.  I knew why it was there and I also knew I did not need it so I removed it, then expanded the primary partition to fill the space then, backed up the disk and restored from that backup without issue.  I realize that doesn't help you per say but I wonder if it may be the cause of your issue.

If you desire to save the log file to the boot disk you can yes.  The drive letter for the media is X:
