Long time problem Activating ATI 2019

Thread needs solution

I have a Win7 desktop and a Win10 laptop.  I have 5 licenses for ATI 2019 Advanced.  Both computers had 2018 running.  I upgraded them both months ago.  The laptop activated without a problem.  They both are on wired lan connections through the same router/firewall.  The Win7 machine always failed with a 'no internet access' message.  While this was occurring I could logon to Acronis MyAccount and see my products.

I spent over a hour with customer support and they controlled my Win7 machine remotly and collected logs and sniffed packets and were going "to send it to the development team".  Never got a solution that way.  While customer support was talking to me I told him several times, he observed it remotely also, that the error was coming back so fast that I doubted it was actually accessing the internet.  I also told him that the tray network icon had a yellow bang, which was a error.  I spent a lot of time trying various suggestions from Technet to clear the yellow bang.  Nothing worked.

It really seemed to me that the ATI activation process was reading a Windows 7 flag for internet access but wasn't actually trying to access.  I had also used the Acronis tool, AcronisCloudEU1Check.exe, while the problem was occurring and it succeeded on all checks.

Finally today after months of giving up, I decided to try a Safe Boot with networking.  The network tray icon had no yellow bang and low and behold ATI activated.  Having spent hours online in forums with Win 7 networking experts I have found that some installations just can't get the bang to go away with a normal boot.  BTW, even while the bang occurs I can access the Microsoft site that MS uses on boot to verify internet connections.

Bottom line, ACRONIS try to actually connect, don't just read the dumb flag!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing your findings on this issue.  I have never encountered such issues myself but it may help others who do & have done so!

One issue that is known is that ATI does not work well or support working through proxy connections.
