Making system image of SCO Unix

Thread needs solution

Dear Acronis experts,

I wonder if it is possible to make a complete system backup image of HTFS file system?

What I want to do is to make a complete image of SCSI HDD that is installed on SCO Unix Open Server. The file system is HTFS. I'm not interested in making backup of certain data or partitions. I want to make a system image I can use in case HDD's failure.

I know that Acronis doesn't support HTFS file system, but perhaps that doesn't mean it can not make system image (from raw data).

For example, I have found out that clonezilla also cannt recognite HTFS partition, but it can make image from the HDD and it is possible to restore it to another system. Backup and recovery procedure use famous "dd" command that copies blocks of bytes.

Is it possible that Acronis True Image 2019 can be used to make backups of file system it can't recognize.

Thank you!

As stated in your other forum topic, ATI 2019 is intended for use by Windows users / on Windows computers and has limited support for some other file systems such as those used by Linux (EXT2/3/4), plus there is a version designed for use with Mac systems.

Other file systems fall into the category of unsupported where Acronis would attempt to make a Sector by Sector backup image of the drive as stated in the ATI 2019 User Guide.

Supported file systems

  • NTFS
  • Ext2/Ext3/Ext4
  • ReiserFS(3) *
  • Linux SWAP *
  • HFS+*/HFSX*
  • FAT16/32/exFAT * **

* File systems are supported only for disk or partition backup/recovery operations.

** File systems are supported only for disk or partition recovery operations (without resizing).

If a file system is not supported or is corrupted, Acronis True Image 2019 can copy data using a sector-by-sector approach.

You may want to look at the range of Acronis Business Products intended for Server systems which may offer support for HTFS drives.  You can also raise a Pre Sales support ticket direct with Acronis to get a more definitive answer as to whether any of their products support your requirements here?
