The meaning of True Image, questions about Apple BOOTCAMP Windows drives
I'm starting the trial for True Image 2019 and I'll HAPPILY order the cloud service $30-$50 cloud service version, I just need some help addressing specific questions of mine.
I'm on a MacBook Pro Retina 2013, and I have 150GB's allotted to my Windows 10 Bootcamp partition. If I use True Image to backup my Windows 10, will I be able to upload that onto a new partition on a new MacBook Pro? Cause in the near future I will be buying a new one and I figured I might as well get ahead of the game on this backup situation.
I have programs on my Windows 10 that I don't have install files for anymore, for software that has been deprecated but is still of use to me. So I really need a solution that backs up the full image into complete working order with all my programs ready to go like I had them. Now I know installing on a PC vs installing on a MacBook hard-drive partition might be different so I want to know if this is possible and if anyway has done it before?
My next question is, let's say I bought a 1TB Samsung SSD external drive, would I be able to upload my backup of Windows 10 onto that SSD and run Windows via USB on my MacBook Pro? And what is the best way to do that if so? I know there can be lot's of problems with formatting a drive to do that.
Thank you, please let me know! I'm really hoping Acronis will solve my issues.

Hello Tristan,
with Acronis True Image you can back up and recover the Boot Camp partition, however with certain limitations. It's not possible to install a Windows version of Acronis True Image into the guest OS of the Boot Camp. You need to take the installation file for Mac, install Acronis True Image on your Mac and then back up the hard drive where Boot Camp is installed by using Entire Mac or My Disks backup source. The backup will contain all the data stored on the drive, including the Boot Camp partition. Please refer to https://kb.acronis.com/content/47222
After the backup has been done, you'll have the following recovery options:
- You can recover the Boot Camp partition along with other data by recovering the entire hard drive
- You can recover the Boot Camp partition separately by selecting this partition only and unchecking other check boxes in the Recovery wizard
- You can recover files from the Boot Camp partition
