Media Builder Fails

Thread needs solution

I've rebooted and no applications have been started although something could be running in the background from startup.  This is the error:

The device is busy. (0x40010)

$module = "ti_managers_vs_14610"

backupmedia::BootableCDWriter::Burn: <a href='execute://%VS_PATH%\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe @c:\bs_hudson\workspace\639\core\backup\cdrecord\bootable_cd.cpp /command "Edit.GoTo 97"'>

c:\bs_hudson\workspace\639\core\backup\cdrecord\bootable_cd.cpp(97)</a>

Also....

Devenv.exe is part of MS Visual Studio 2017 (which I need) however, VS wasn't running and I can't find that .exe in the running process list.

I have 2 Dell XPS Tower style PCs that are pretty much the same expect one is WIN 10 PRO and the other is HOME OS.  I ran Media Builder on the other PC and it created the DVD without any errors (no VS on that machine)

Is this one DVD OK for booting either PC in case of failure?  If so, can I just ignore the error I got on the PC with Visual Studio?

Thanks

David,

Sounds like VS was used recently to burn a CD and did not close that process completely so True Image is giving this error.

Question is where do you see this error?  Are you looking in a log file at this?  Is the app unable to start because of this?

You can boot both computers from a single Recovery Media.

I know you said you rebooted the computer in question but have you tried a shutdown restart?  Hardware issues like these are often corrected by a shutdown so that devices are reinitialized upon startup.

Mine is very similar, trying to make a recovery disk on a DVD-R (Windows 10):

The device is busy. (0x40010)

  $module = "ti_managers_vs_22510"

  backupmedia:BootableCDWriter::Burn: <a href='execute://%VS_PATH%

\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe @c:\bs_hudson\workspace\23\core\backup

\cdrecord\bootable_cd.cpp /command "Edit.GoTo 97">

c:\bs_hudson\workspace\23\core\backup\cdrecord\bootable_cd.cpp(97)</a>

-----------

Was able to create a recovery "disk" on a USB device.

Theodore, welcome to these public User Forums.

Instead of burning the rescue media direct to DVD via the Acronis media builder, create this as an ISO file instead, then try burning that to the DVD using the feature available in Windows 10 to see if that gives the same error?

See webpage: How to burn a CD or DVD in Windows 10 (step-by-step)

If Windows sees the same device busy error then this is not an Acronis issue.
