Hello Antoine,

welcome to Acronis forums! What product are you using? Acronis command line component is only available in business product family - Acronis Backup 12.5. Here you'll find the Command-Line reference about mounting volumes in Acronis Backup 12.5  https://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_12.5_Command_Line_Reference/#11567.html

No. You can double click a .tib and it will open in file explorer to copy and paste from.

Or, you have to use rescue media outside of windows to restore if you can't or don't want to use the ATI GUI.

What kind of recover are you wanting to do and why command line?

Hello,

The goal is to sort customer images (tib files) by reading a specific file in the tib file. I must do it programatically.

Can I only install Acronis command line from Acronis backup?

Antoine, if all your customer image .tib files have been created by Acronis True Image, then you would need to open a Support Case direct with Acronis Support to confirm if the Acronis Backup command line tools would allow you to do what you are seeking with ATI tib files.  There is limited compatibility between the products as shown by the Backup Compatibility document linked in my signature but the list only goes up to ATI 2017 without mentioning 2018 or 2019 versions.

There is no command line tool to mount images provided by Acronis True Image that I am aware of and none documented by Acronis for ATI.

Wouldn't it be easier to sort the backups in folders with customer information?  And/or name the initial backup .tib files similarly? Creating named folders would be easy for all existing backups and new backups.  Developing a backup name scheme for new backups would provide ever better sorting down the road.

It would be easier for sure but we sort tib files based on what software is installed onto it. It is part of a bigger system and I cannot change it.

What i don't understand is that Acronis True Image can explore tib files with Windows Explorer so why I cannot do it programatically or by command line?

Or maybe I need a SDK or an API?

For what I understand, to use Acronis backup command line tool I need to install Acronis backup Agent on the host machine, Link it to a Acronis backup Server and finally I can use the command line tool. It seems a bit overkill to me for just exploring a tib file.

I think the best you can do for now is submit feedback as a request.  If enough people ask for it to, it could likely be added at some point.

True Image is a home product with more basic features than the Backup products for business and enterprise and I believe that the # of actual installations is limited to only 5 PC's per account. You'd either have to have multiple accounts for each customer to manage, or if you're using the rescue media to make backups offline, that's not what the product was designed for and technically, even though you can backup any # of systems with rescue media, is not in compliance with the True Image EULA.

I think that's where the limitation is as the home product has reduced capabilities and reduces features to keep it more user friendly for the less technical (to the extent possible), reduce feature support, and to allow for a scaled path to more features, but at a different price point (which is pretty common in a lot of software applications) for small and large businesses.

For now, the only automated option would be to look into the Backup 12.5 product (test a trial of it) to see if it would meet your needs.  Backup 12.5 can handle True Image backup .tib files, but True Image cannot handle Backup 12.5 backup .tibx files (at least at present).  This looks like it may be backward compatible with both in the near future, as True Image 2020 beta is using .tibx instead of .tib as the default backup type and the 2020 True Image beta is still capable of running existing backups with .tib and navigating .tib files, in addition to .tibx.

Ultimately though, the extra functionality is in the business product line. For what it's worth, you can't do what you're  asking (scripted) in any of the top competing products either - not that I'm aware of from my use with them (I have licenses for most of the main ones).
