Moving images not in use?

Thread needs solution

Over years of using Acronis, I have old backup drive images not in use, on external hard drives that I want to keep. I want to move these to a new external drive.

If I just move the TIB file would these still restore if needed? If I needed these images I would be booting off an Acronis CD or USB drive and directing the software to the backup file location and where to restore to.

Or… is there an option in the 2019 software running in Windows 10 to move the files safely?

I just upgraded to 2019, but some of these are much older versions.

Thanks

Dave, if your backup files are not associated with any active backup tasks shown in the main ATI 2019 GUI, then you should be able to move any of your files using Explorer without issue.

If you want to move files that are part of an active backup task shown in the GUI, then you should use the Move option available for that task to do this.

Note: If you have Acronis Active Protection enabled / turned on, then you will need to turn this off when moving the backup files else AAP may prevent you from doing so.

If all your backup files are for Full versions, these are the easiest to manage, but if you have Incremental backup chains, you should ensure that you move all the files that form the chain to avoid 'breaking' the chain by having any missing files from it!
