Multiple Backups

Thread needs solution

I run Acronis 2019 locally under Windows 10 using an incremental scheme with max 6 versions before a new chain is started. I have a maximum of 2 chains before the initial chain is deleted. These chains consist of a full backup followed by 5 incremental backups.

Recently I decided to add specific File and Folder backups, for example, Pictures, Music, Documents etc. in order to speed up the process using the same scheme. This has worked, however, I have two folders containing installation files and program data for a number of programs running on my computer. When I backup these folders Acronis generates not one but up to 20 fullbackups each with is own specific version number. They appear to be identical because they are identical in size (around 4 GB each). There should only be one full backup file and I have tried to overcome this by using a single version scheme but the result was the same.

Can you help me overcome this problem?

John, welcome to these public User Forums.

Your system report zip file doesn't contain any logs for your backup task(s) so the only information we can work with is the disks report from that report zip file and your statement about having multiple 4GB files being created.

This is simply because your destination external USB WD 300GB storage drive is formatted as FAT32 which cannot store any files larger than 4GB size.

If the storage drive is reformatted / converted to either NTFS or exFAT then it could store your backups as a single file instead.
