NAS protection in ATI 2019

Thread needs solution

Hi there:

With ATI 2018, any backup files created by ATI and stored on a local USB drive would be protected (insomuch as a visual alert would appear and warn the user about something modifying files).  With ATI 2019, they state that ATI backup files on a NAS would also be protected - however, as a test I made a copy of a backup file, then deleted that file - no warning was provided or the action prevented - and I have checked off the option in settings to protect NAS based backup files.

Given the lack of a visual alert, how do I know my NAS based files are indeed being protected?

The answer is that the files are not protected against addition, deletion, or rename.  This was noticed during Beta testing.  We were told that the .tib files are currently only protected against encryption.  This supposedly protects against ransomware but it does not protect against other malicious action such as malware renaming or deleting backups.

I don't recall anybody in the Beta test program claiming to have successfully tested the protection against encryption.  For now we just have to trust that such protection exists, I guess.

I suggest you submit feedback letting the Acronis team know this is not sufficient protection.
