New Dell XPS 15 does not wake up to run scheduled backup

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have been using ATI 2019 on our family laptops for some time now. After setting it up on my new Dell XPS 15 9500 it works, but the laptop does not wake up from sleep at the scheduled time (1.30h, daily). So the backup runs after the computer is switched on.

I am using the same parameters as on my other laptops, that wake up properly every night.

Having read articles on similar issues in this forum and the net in general I tried already the following:

  • allowed ATI 2019 to wake up laptop in backup settings
  • repair installation of ATI 2019
  • setting up the backup task newly from scratch
  • added option "Zeitgeber zur Aktivierung zulassenallow wake timers" to power plan and activated it
  • tried high performance power plan

Result was unchanged.

Any idea what I would have to do to get the Dell waking up during the night?

Thanks.

Christian, welcome to these public User Forums.

The main suggestion to offer here is to check your Power Settings and ensure that you have enabled 'Wake Timers' which are used to bring the PC out of sleep.

If wake timers are already enabled and your backups still don't cause the PC to wake, then this may be caused by changes introduced by Windows with Modern Connected Standby.

See forum topic: Performing backups in Modern/Connected Standby for a lengthy discussion!
